Organizations

Recognizing that great teachers are critical for our children's life outcomes and for the fate of the nation, several organizations formed TEACH.org to assist anyone who is considering becoming a teacher.

Pivot Learning is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to partner with educators to design and implement solutions to their greatest challenges in achieving educational justice. Through comprehensive school redesign, leadership development and job-embedded professional learning they, along with their subsidiary the Consortium on Reaching Excellence in Education (CORE), partner with schools and districts to ensure all students graduate college and career ready.

WeAreTeachers is an online media brand for educators committed to one of the toughest, most rewarding jobs out there. Their mission is to inspire teachers and help them succeed by sharing practical classroom ideas, the best freebies and giveaways, and teacher-to-teacher advice and humor.

StoryCorps aims to preserve and share humanity’s stories in order to build connections between people and create a more just and compassionate world. Since 2003, StoryCorps has given a quarter of a million Americans the chance to record interviews about their lives, to pass wisdom from one generation to the next, and to leave a legacy for the future. It is the largest single collection of human voices ever gathered. These powerful stories illustrate our shared humanity and show how much more we share in common than divides us. We've chosen to share a few of our favorite teacher stories here.

The Museum of Teaching and Learning was founded in 2004 to "raise social awareness of the power and future of education, our engaging, interactive, and creative exhibitions travel the country encouraging citizens to action, building respect for the teaching profession, and inspiring change in educators."  MOTAL's goals are to:

  • preserve the past,
  • raise social awareness of how education shapes our children,
  • build respect for the teaching profession,
  • promote citizens to action, and
  • inspire change in educational practice.
