Lucas Gafford appreciates Mr. Randy Bartholomew, a teacher at INDEPENDENCE HIGH SCHOOL in San Jose, CA

Dear Mr. B Happy teacher appreciation week! I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you what you’ve done for me as a person in these past couple years. It’s really awesome on how much you provide for students, both in and outside of the class. I remember your math classes reminded me of what a college course would be like, a simple lecture and some work, and I really appreciated that. In your class I wasn’t constantly being monitored and I was able to work at my own pace while slowly learning more and more about a topic everyday. Outside of class though, you did even more for students. I remember I was always rushing out the door to get to school on time so your snacks gave me something to eat when I couldn’t grab any food. I also always loved how your class was “the game room” and you brought whole PS4s, games, and tvs for students to play on during lunch and after school and it brought a lot of students together (Smash Club included). I remember telling students from other schools about the game room and they were always surprised. Also, I’m sorry for stirring up trouble my freshman year... It’s that kind of patience with not only me, but all the loud students who use the game room that makes you a good teacher, when you have to deal with not only the classroom, but also being a sports coach, a club advisor, and a dad. Sincerely, Lucas Gafford
