Daniela Marie Paccial appreciates Mr. Victoriano Castillo, a teacher at INDEPENDENCE HIGH SCHOOL in San Jose, CA

Dear Mr. Castillo, I appreciate you. For making school a challenge worth taking and thinking about it as a race, that helped a lot. Even though school was something I didn't struggle with too often, my motivation was lacking but as every coach screams… "PUSH PUSH KICK KICK" I sure as heck did not slow down. Despite not being a coach of mine, I still see you as a mentor to look up to for guidance. I remember this time the class got sidetracked (as always), and we talked about school/life being a hill. It's on us whether we want to run up and reach the finish line at the end. To endure the stress of tests and studying for the satisfaction of graduating or merely to be happy. The problem wasn't what was given but how one manages to use their abilities to fit the objective. Followed by you saying distance runners are better… that's a different topic haha. Shhh, don't tell the sprinters, but I somewhat agree. Overall, I'm grateful to say that you are one of the teachers who have helped me push through the end. Whether it was avoiding saying "sure" or math concepts that have stuck in my brain, even popping into my head about that "hill." That one year of Math 3 has absolutely carried me throughout high school, you really prepared me for the long run! Thank you, genuinely. Sincerely, Daniela Marie Paccial Former 2019 Math 3 Student Independence High School P.s. I am still a sprinter, but distance is still dear to me, and I'll get back to it eventually. No hills though, I refuse.
