Alieza Chua appreciates Ms. Elizabeth Oing, a teacher at INDEPENDENCE HIGH SCHOOL in San Jose, CA

As Salomon Ortiz says, "Education is the key to success in life, and teachers make a lasting impact on the lives of their students." In being a part of your AP Lang class, it is my personal belief that you are a representative of this quote. Teachers make an impact by being role models and providing guidance for students through the feeding of knowledge. In doing so, they are contributing to the growth of educational factors within students and are establishing long-term effects by teaching. Teachers indeed make a lasting impact on the lives of their students by implementing education, the key to success in life, in an everyday environment for their students. Throughout this school year, you are one of the few teachers I have recognized to truly showcase a genuine care for their students in addition to teaching. I have noticed that you are a heavy advocate for mental health and you have gone to extra lengths to ensure that every student has an opportunity for success. Distance learning is a difficult environment to thrive in but I can confidently say that I have learned so much from your class. Your style of teaching is one that is so easy for me to follow and I do not find it hard to complete your assignments or comprehend the material. On top of that, you accept late work for full credit and you always make it known that you are open to all questions and are always available to lend a hand to a struggling student. I promise you, that simple gesture alone does not go unnoticed by students and we are all so appreciative of everything you do. It is not common that I see teachers that do more than follow lesson plans and assign work. That being said, I assure you that your teaching has made a lasting impact in my life. I have never really struggled with your class in the sense of material and honestly, your class is a confidence booster for me because you make it so easy to thrive in. AP Lang is still a difficult class but with you as my teacher, I have coasted through the work so easily and I am not as scared for the final AP exam either. I am extremely thankful that I have you as my teacher, although I admit I was really scared to transfer to your class, and I will say your class is my favorite. I just wanted to express my gratitude for all you do despite the current circumstances. Teaching is one of the hardest jobs out there but you make it look so easy. I hope I was able to fully convey how grateful I am to be your student!
